Why College Students Like The Beer Pong Game

In the newest craze for college activity, beer pong has come to town.  Not ping pong mind you, but beer pong.  No one’s clamoring to go to any of the other activities or sports events on campus. 

They want to see the beer pong game, or better yet, be on one of the teams. 

There will be anywhere from six to ten plastic cups (usually red ones) on each side.  The cups are strategically placed in bowling pin form, starting with one at the top, two under that, three under that and then finally the last four. 

Those cups aren’t empty either.  They’re all filled with beer.  Well, not totally filled, but at least halfway.  Students looking to play patiently wait until it’s time for the beer pong game to start. 

The object of the beer pong game is for the two teams to get each other to drink up the beer in the cups.  This is done when a player from the opposing team gets a ping pong ball in one of their cups. 

This game has been around for a while, but for some it’s still fairly new. 

Another reason that this game peaks the interest of college students is because they get to drink beer.  Sometimes it can fuel the fire for drunkenness and binge drinking.

Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to find a party on some of the college campuses where the students are engaged in the beer pong game.  If they’re not doing it there, they’ll play it online.  It’s gotten so that some students have set up tournaments every year to see who has the skill to play. 

Yes, it is an actual tournament just like with tennis.  It is promoted with posters and by word of mouth.  They also use custom made tables to set themselves apart. 

The beer pong game can be very competitive, whether in a facility or online.  It takes a lot of concentration and skill to master winning the game.  So, it’s not just about drinking beer, as some may think and players want people to know.  It’s also easy to get addicted to it, especially if alcohol is involved. 

Some students have become so addicted that they have beer pong games every week.  Most of these games are for fun, but they are still competitive.  With the actual tournaments, there is money and prizes to be one.  So every concentrated effort counts from players on both teams.

Mostly, it’s guys that are involved in beer pong games.  However, you will be able to find a few females that will take them on.  Especially if it’s one of those strip beer pong games. 

However, even with all the fun and competition involved, there are some on college campuses that are concerned that these types of games can get or are already getting out of hand.  The mere fact that it involved drinking is a concern. 

Administrators don’t want to it to get to the point where college students get wild and rowdy, or even experience illness from alcohol poisoning.

There are even some students on campus that feel the beer pong games have gone overboard.  It seems as though they dominate most if not all of the college parties that some of them attend. 

The beer pong game is one where you have to know your limits when consuming alcohol, otherwise you could go overboard.
