Imported Beers Are Here To Stay
So much for just having domestic beers on the supermarket shelves. They have made way
for import beers. There are so many import beers from different countries; it’s hard for anyone to keep up.
The import beer industry is making headway with other beers in the United States by using fierce competition. Go to any store in the
liquor section and you may see import beers from Mexico, Canada, Germany and Belgium, just to name a few.
Domestic beer is still making money, however imported beer is starting to cut in on the profits. Even though domestic beer has increased
percentagewise a little bit, imported beer has also increased percentagewise by more than twice as much as domestic beer. The top selling
imported beers hail from Mexico, Canada, Holland and Germany.
What is fueling the growth and interest for more import beers? People like variety, and there are only so many brands of domestic beer
available in the United States. The import beers have a different flavor and that can be appealing to a lot of beer drinkers.
With the Mexican beer, Corona, Dos Equis and Tecate are some of the clear favorites of
import beers that are consistently making their way towards the United States. Beers from the Dutch origin are not far behind.
Heineken and Amstel Light lead the pack for second place.
With more Hispanics coming to the United States, you will find more imported beer available. They too, like everyone else share a
passion for drinking imported beers. Not all of them have reliable transportation, so that means that a major grocery store may be out of
their reach.
However, there are convenience stores in nearby neighborhoods that cater to their clientele. These neighborhood stores would be equipped
with imported beers like Corona.
Even though Mexican beer has had sufficient growth with the Hispanic population, it’s time for the companies to branch out more and look at
light beer or the manufacturing of a light beer brand product. This will continue to keep them in the competitive market share for imported
beers.
Speaking of light beer, more importers are now giving way to that part of the sector. Nowadays, imported light beer seems to be making
headway over regular imported beers in sales. Soon, there will be more premium imported light beers available.
There are already some that have made headway, Beck’s Premier Light and Heineken Premium Light.
As far as retail facilities being outlets for imported beer, discount stores such as Wal-Mart are leading the way for that. One reason
is that since Wal-Mart is a discount store, people would be more prone to purchase it there and know they’re getting their money’s worth in
imported beers.
However, the more discount and warehouse stores that stock this, the more it may demand that the existing stores raise their
prices.
It looks like imported beer now has a place in the market. With the way the interest is going, it doesn’t look like it will be leaving
anytime soon.
